Desktop Support Engineer Intermediate Position Description

S2Technologies is currently sourcing for qualified candidates to join our team. We are currently looking for candidates having training and experience performing as a Desktop Support Engineer Intermediate in support of 7th Signal Command. The qualified candidate will perform as a Desktop Engineer II (Mid-level Desktop Engineer) with a minimum of three (3) years' experience working in the areas and performing the types of actions listed in the following "Knowledge, Skills and Abilities" section. Successful candidates must have SECRET security clearance, must have Security+ certification with experience using the Remedy Ticketing system ARS.
This position will bring Microsoft Windows Active Directory Administrator skills with migration experience to support a Windows Active Directory migration from 2003/2008 to 2012 (or most recent version) on a federal services contract. The successful candidate will work closely with the Server Operations, application and middleware teams to develop, test and implement our migration strategy from 2003/2008 to 2012.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with Windows migrations and active directory upgrade, desired
Ability to gather requirements and help architect, plan and implement system solutions for a Windows platform to meet customer requirements
Candidate must have experience in development of implementation guides based on NIST 800-53 moderate and high impact
Experience managing Microsoft Active Directory to include implementation of GPOs to support the implementation of STIG settings on file and print services, DNS, Domain Controllers and application servers, desired
Experience managing Windows systems, including Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Window Server 2012, to include 2012 STIG deployment, desired
Experience building, configuring, and managing Microsoft Windows servers in multi-tenant enterprise environments, desired
Experience working with Enterprise Backup software, desired
Experience maintaining harden Windows operating systems to STIG compliance, desired
Experience managing Active Directory architecture and replication in a multi domain environment, desired. Experience accomplishing Active Directory design, desired
Experience working with large scale datacenter design and operations, desired
Experience working with virtual infrastructure (i.e. VMWare) required
Experience utilizing VB/Powershell to automate common functions, desired
Experience migrating large infrastructures from physical to virtual environments, desired
Experience/awareness of SCCM methodologies, desired
Experience working with LAN/WAN and wireless interfaces, desired
Experience working with web servers, databases, networks, cabling, new installations and migrations, and security scanning tools is required, desired
Experience deploying and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and 2016 STIG, desired
Experience writing shell scripts and utility programs for Windows system maintenance is also a plus, desired
Install, upgrade, support, and troubleshoot printers, computer hardware, Windows 7 and Windows 10 OS, Office 2007 and 2010 as well as other authorized desktop applications and peripheral equipment.
Perform general preventative maintenance tasks on computers, laptops, printers, and any other authorized peripheral equipment unless prohibited by existing customer warranties.
Responsible for monitoring, operating, managing, troubleshooting, and restoring service to client personal computers (PCs) or laptops that have authorized access to the network.
Escalate the issue/problem to proper Tier 3 Support team members when the restoration is beyond the scope of the computers, laptops, printers and any other authorized peripheral.
Develop trends by monitoring and analyzing incoming calls, problems and support requests.
Possess/demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidate routinely required to employ excellent teamwork skills, written and oral communication skills, and formal documentation skills
Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree is preferred. Certifications:
Must be IAT II compliant (Sec+/CE) certified
Prefer candidates with an active Help Desk Institute (HDI) Desktop Support Technician (DST) Certification
ITIL v3 Foundations Certification, desired
Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain a SECRET security clearance
Other Position requirements:
The customer prefers candidates who demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage Microsoft Active Directory to include implementation of GPOs to support the implementation of STIG settings on file and print services, DNS, Domain Controllers and application servers, and experience/awareness of SCCM methodologies.

Work closely with the Server Operations, application and middleware teams to develop, test and implement the migration strategy from 2003/2008 to 2012
Responsible for producing the SOPs which will be used for the production deployment
Provide Off-shift coverage will be required for support of systems and/or scheduled maintenance and system upgrades
Provide customer support based on familiarity with scripting technologies such as VB and/or Powershell and customer support based on familiarity with Riverbed SteelFusion hardware is desired
Installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and equipment (including but not limited to PCs, laptops, printers, scanners and Black Berries) to ensure optimal performance. Actively take ownership of Remedy tickets and problems assigned, accurately record work performed and troubleshoot issues (in person, by telephone, or via remote access) in a timely fashion.
Provide direct end user assistance to include familiarizing users with basic software, hardware, and peripheral device operation. Effectively use approved diagnostic tools to diagnose network connectivity issues as well as image, copy and configure systems for deployment.
Demonstrate the ability to escalate issues and involve experts for resolution as needed and enforce the rigorous application of Army Information Security/Information Assurance policies while providing a high level of customer support.
Develop and maintain a sound understanding of approved operating systems and application software as well as business-related processes and procedures, company guidelines.
